Citrix acquired Framehawk in January 2014 and it was
released in June 2015 as a standalone installation as part of Citrix XenDesktop
7.6 Feature Pack 2. With the release of Feature Pack 3 it became a part of the
VDA.
To read more about the Framehawk technology I recommend the
following blog posts by Citrix:
Furthermore, there was a wonderful string of tests within a
Citrix environment that a fellow blogger recently posted. It includes latency
tests side-by-side of up to 1800ms! I do see a significant difference in
performance with the Thinwire setting enabled for up to 5% packet loss.
However, with heavy packet loss, it would be good to test out Framehawk.
However, the Thinwire Compatibility mode has improved significantly. Check this
video out to give you a better idea as to which option to choose. No matter
what, the strides that were made by Citrix with regards to performance have
been incredible.
